Back to the Sources: Translating the Bible in the 16th century

Ad fontes—"to the sources" was a motto often heard in the 16th century. It was central to Martin Luther's assertion that "Scripture alone" should be the basis of theological understanding. In this exhibit, we have tried to assemble a sampling of books one could expect to find in the library of a Reformation-era scripture scholar.

This exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours through December 2011.

Reformation Day at Emory
