Image Title: Printer's Device of Peter Quentel

Description: The printer's device of Peter Quentel (fl. 1520-1546), consisting of an eagle and a lion holding a crest with three crowns, is set over the inscription FELIX COLONIA (Blessed Cologne), which pronounces blessed the city of Cologne, where Quentel's printing business was located. The three crowns are related to the Shrine of the Three Kings (the Magi of the Nativity story) in the cathedral at Cologne, and these are also featured in the city's coat of arms.
