Description: This emblem depicts an angel leading a woman and her heart bound with a cord. The image is titled with the Latin VINCULUM CORDIS EX FUNIBUS CHRISTI, which translates “the binding of the heart with the cords of Christ,” and is accompanied by the text of Hosea 11:4. This is the forty-second in a series of 47 emblems published anonymously and adapted from Benedictine writer Benedict van Haeften's Schola Cordis (1629).
