Description: To punish King Ahaziah of Israel for consulting the gods of Ekron, Elijah calls down fire from heaven to consume the king’s captain and his 50 soldiers. The artist, Gustave Doré (1832-1883), has placed his signature at the lower left of the woodcut, and the engraver’s signature, Charles Maurand, is located at the lower right.
