Description: God extends a crown over the head of Jacob, thus indicating his selection of Jacob over his twin brother Esau. The coat of arms for the Holy Roman Emperor is set in the top left corner, and the symbol for the city of Augsburg, a pine cone, is in the right corner. The artist of the woodcut is Daniel Hopfer (ca.1470-1536), who was active at Augsburg.
