Databases for Religious Studies

This workshop will explore several different types of resources that will prove helpful in researching topics in religious studies. These will include online reference works, websites included in Euclid through the ATSRW project of the ATLA, and recommended databases (English and non-English).

Citations in Theological Research

Description
Citations mark the transmission of ideas from one source to another, serving as important pieces of scholarly communication in both writing and research. Missing pieces make assembling a complete picture difficult or impossible. In this workshop, we�ll focus on identifying the key information needed for constructing and reading citations for resources used in theological research, including websites, course lectures, interviews, encyclopedias, white papers, podcasts, material objects, and books and journals. Participants will use the citation style of their choice (SBL, Turabian/Chicago, MLA) in order to gain immediately applicable skills. A handout with references for further use will be provided.

Copyright for Religious Organizations

Statistics for Religious Studies

ATLAS for Alumni

To support the reading and research of Candler students after graduation, Pitts Theology Library has purchased access to the ATLAS Database for all Candler alumni. Alumni are able to access this superb online database from anywhere in the world for the foreseeable future. In this workshop you will learn how to use the Pitts Library Alumni Webpage, including many valuable but free resources, and the ATLAS for Alumni Database.
