Pitts Scholars

Pitts Scholars

The Pitts Scholars Program invites Candler School of Theology and Laney Graduate School students to explore theological vocation outside of traditional academic or ecclesial settings. While being mentored by Pitts staff, scholars develop skills relevant to their vocational and theological call as they discern the role of libraries in communities. Pitts Scholars apply their experiences and knowledge to a project that combines theological training with skills that serve ecclesial, academic, and community audiences.

During the program, students will develop relationships with Pitts staff members through one-on-one mentorship based on the students’ expressed interests in Pitts’ collections or library department. Students will receive instruction and hands-on opportunities to apply new skills to their areas of interest and explore theological education beyond the Church or classroom. Pitts Scholars will receive a digital portfolio of their project.
