Image Title: Balak and Balaam

Scripture Reference:

Description: This image depicts a deathbed scene: a dying woman is surrounded by people, who tend her needs and mourn and a banner over her head reads, "Oh departed to me, etc." In the background, Balaam foils Balak by blessing the Israelites rather than cursing them. The Latin superscription reads, "Vain and late prayer of the nearly dying," and the text below, "Will I burden heaven with vain prayers in this way? O, my piety was honoring every loathsome wickedness".
