Scripture Reference:

Description: The printer's device of Paolo Meietti (Latin, Paulus Meiettus; fl. 1569-1598) features two roosters standing under a plant, with one pecking seeds. Below the image is the Latin inscription NON COMEDETIS FRUGES MENDACII (Do not dissipate moral worth by lies), perhaps an allusion to the Vulgate of Hosea 10:13, COMEDISTIS FRUGEM MENDACII (you have eaten the fruit of lies). Since this publication was a collaboration with Johann Feyerabend (1550-1599), the latter's initials IF (Iohannes Feyerabend) have been set at the head with a cross and orb.
