Description: This image comes from “Sylvae Sacrae,” dated 1594, bound with “Solitudo, sive, Vitae patrum eremicolarum”. Saint Meinrad of Einsiedeln (d. 861) was killed by thieves who wanted treasure left at a shrine. The names of the artist responsible for the design, Maarten De Vos, and the engraver, Johannes Sadeler I (Jan Sadeler), are at the base.
