Description: A pair of small coins called liards used in Geneva, Switzerland, and Beárn, an old province near Navarre. The Geneva liard (left) has an ornate cross on its front face, surrounded by the motto POST TENEBRAS LVX ("After darkness, light") from Job 17:12; the reverse contains a two-headed eagle above a shield containing Geneva's arms, which are an eagle and a key. The Beárn liard (right) displays on its front a square cross and the motto GRATIA DEI SVM ID QVOD SVM ("By the grace of God, I am what I am") from 1 Corinthians 15:10; the reverse contains a crowned letter H, which probably represents King Henry II of Navarre (r. 1517-1555).
