Description: This image depicts Gideon defeating the Midianites. At the top Gideon chooses his troops based on how they drink water. In the upper-left corner an angel of the Lord appears to the Israelites at Bochim, as the judge Shamgar reclines. At the bottom the Israelites mutilate Adoni-bezek. In the bottom-right corner Jael kills the general Sisera with a tent-peg and hammer, as instruments represent the song of Deborah and Barak. To the right Gideon receives a sign from God, while to the left an angel causes Gideon’s sacrifice to be consumed by fire. To the lower-left corner Gideon and Purah infiltrate the Midianite camp. In the upper-right corner Abimelech is struck by a millstone thrown from Thebez by a woman.
