Image Title: About the sealing of the heart [from Part III]

Scripture Reference:

Description: Jesus and the Soul, in whose heart the name of Jesus is being printed. Behind the Soul lurks the embodiment of Hell. The Dutch artist and poet, Jan Luiken (1649-1712) was responsible for drawing and etching this emblem and composing the poem that accompanies it.

Poem: The Soul has sealed her heart upon Jesus.

Another seals with his ring
A great treasure of earthly things,
That are dear and please him,
Before an unfaithful servant or maid.
I have placed the Son of God the Father,
That living spring and vein,
Of the deepest love and friendliness,
The eternal light of the Lord,
The sweetest Jesus, Lord of Lords,
Honored and served by all blessed spirits
Without force or law,
So clearly upon my heart
Like a seal; so that the things,
We received so generously from God
Might never be robbed from us,
By him who preys upon the treasury,
So as to seize it.
The robber does not dare approach us,
When he sees that high seal,
As this does not taste good to him.

God's Answer:
"Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame" (Song of Songs 8:6).
