Image Title: Gideon Defeats the Midianites

Scripture Reference:

Description: This image is placed in the book at the beginning of Judges 8 and so may be intended to illustrate the occasion when Gideon and his forces pull down the tower of Peniel and slew the men of the city for refusing to offer him aid when he was pursuing the Midianites. However, details of the image make it more likely that it illustrates the story in Judges 9, when a woman of Thebez dropped a millstone from a tower and killed Abimelech.
