Description: The top register of the left page is divided into three illustrated panels. On the left, Abraham tells his servants to stay with the donkey while he and Isaac depart to worship before the sacrifice of the lamb (Genesis 22). In the center, the bread of the Presence, or the showbread, is placed on a table in the tabernacle as a memorial food offering to the Lord (Leviticus 24; Exodus 25). On the right, Abraham bargains with the three angel messengers to save Sodom divine annihilation (Genesis 18). One register below, three people kneel towards a lamb surmounting an altar on the left, and Moses instructs the Israelites to gather manna in the Desert of Sin on the right (Exodus 16). Directly below, a messenger from God intercedes as Abraham raises a knife to sacrifice his son, Isaac (Genesis 22). On the same register to the left, ravens sent by God supply food for Elijah while he hides in the Kerith Valley (1 Kings 17). On the bottom left of the page, Moses, Aaron, and Miriam are summoned to the tent of meeting after Miriam and Aaron talk against Moses (Numbers 12). In the center, men sent by Moses to explore the Promised Land carry a giant cluster of grapes on a pole in the Valley of Eshkol (Numbers 13). On the bottom right, of the page Moses looks out across the Promised Land. The right page features a battle scene in which an angel blows a trumpet victorious over the chaos. Deuteronomy 32:30 is written below in the exergue.
