Description: This emblem depicts a person pouring water out of an open heart at the feet of an angel. The image is titled with the Latin CORDIS EFFUSIO, which translates “the pouring out of the heart,” and is accompanied by the text of Lamentations 2:19. This is the twelfth in a series of 47 emblems published anonymously and adapted from Benedictine writer Benedict van Haeften's Schola Cordis (1629).
