Description: Seated at his table, author Jesus ben Sirach basks in a ray of light focused upon his head, while three children celebrate his enlightenment. The opening passage of the Book of Ecclesiasticus appears on the writer’s paper: “Omnis sapientia a Domino Deo est” (“All wisdom is from the Lord God”). The artist and engraver, Jacobus Harrewijn (1660-1727), has placed his signature in the bottom center.
