Description: After Assyria defeats Israel and deports the Israelites, they bring in foreigners to take their place. Lions begin to attack and kill the new inhabitants, because they do not know and do not follow God’s law. The artist, Gustave Doré (1832-1883), has placed his signature at the lower left of the woodcut, and the engraver’s signature, Charles d. Rodolphe, is located at the lower right.
