Lions begin to attack and kill the new inhabitants, because they do not know and do not follow God’s law. The artist, Gustave Doré (1832-1883), has placed his signature at the lower left of the woodcut, and the engraver’s signature, Charles d. Rodolphe, is located at the lower right.
