Description: Isaiah's vision of the heavenly throne room above the temple of Jerusalem. An angel touches a hot coal to Isaiah's lips with a pair of tongs. The artist, Virgil Solis (1514-1562), has placed his monogram on a stone in the lower left of the woodcut. In addition there is the engraver’s knife and his monogram (CS = Conrad Saldoerfer) in the lower right corner.
