Planning for End of Semester Projects

This is a good time to make sure you have all the materials you’ll need for your final papers and projects.  To help you make the most of your time, we suggest the following:

1. Schedule a research consultation with one of Pitts’ Research Librarians for suggestions regarding sources and search strategies for your topics of interest.  We’re also happy to answer questions about using citation managers like EndNote and Zotero, as well as ensuring you have all needed information for your citations.

2. Place Interlibrary Loan requests now for any sources you need that are not held at Emory.  Interlibrary Loan requests are processed in the order of receipt, and the speed with which materials can be obtained depends on a number of factors; your place in the queue, the rarity of the material you’re interested in, and whether a digital or print copy is provided by the lending library all impact the speed.  Plan ahead to make sure you can receive everything in time for your final projects.  For items available locally but not at Emory, you can also request an ARCHE card or use your GETS affiliation to obtain books in person; if you have questions about this process, please contact a research librarian.

3. Consider signing up for a Research and Writing Boot Camp on Wednesday, December 10.  This is an open-ended all-day workshop intended solely to give you time to work on your final projects in a supportive atmosphere.  The Boot Camp will be held in the Lecture Hall of the library from 9 AM to 4 PM.  We ask you to register, but you do not need to attend for the full day.
